  1. 6th Cycle Housing Element

The City's current Housing Element, which covers the planning period of 2013 to 2021, was adopted on August 6, 2013, by the City Council and certified by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) on October 11, 2013. Per State law, the City is required to update its Housing Element every eight years. HCD has established October 15, 2021, as the deadline for certification of the next planning period (2021 to 2029) for cities located within Los Angeles County.

The City of Lynwood is in the process of updating the Housing Element of the General Plan for the 2021 to 2029 period as required by State law. The Housing Element is a State-mandated policy document within the City of Lynwood General Plan that establishes policies and provides direction for the implementation of various programs to meet existing and projected future housing needs for all income levels within the City of Lynwood. The goal of the Housing Element policies and programs is to propose actions that accommodate growth, produce opportunity for the development of new housing, preserve existing housing stock, and assist the existing population.

The Lynwood City Council approved a Professional Service Agreement with Infrastructure Engineers on March 16, 2021, to prepare the 2021-2029 Housing Element and related EIR. Based upon a preliminary time schedule, Infrastructure Engineers anticipates that the updates will be completed no later than October 2021. This site will be used to update the community on the progress of updating the City's 2021 to 2029 Housing Element.
