Last week’s rainstorms kept Lynwood’s Public Works crews busy throughout the City. Not only did they have to deal with storm-related clean-up, but they also continued their diligent work to keep Lynwood’s streets clean.

 The storm-related work included:

  • Clearing 328 storm drains,
  • Clearing 1,200 catch basins,
  • Repairing two very large potholes,
  • Assisted the Water Division at flooded locations,
  • Prepared sandbags for residents, and
  • Removed downed trees and tree branches that fell during the storm.

The work was in addition to the weekly tasks Public Works crews perform every week, which included (small sample):

  • Clearing 94 miles of alleys (cleaned on a rotational basis) of illegally dumped items and debris,
  • Cleaning up a major illegal dumping site and several transient sites,
  • Repairing 58 potholes,
  • Picking up illegally dumped items at 62 separate locations, and
  • Removing nearly 3,500 square feet of graffiti.

Thank you to our crews who are keeping our streets clear of trash and debris and, at the same time, keeping us safe from storm related damage!
