Luis Gerardo Cuellar, Jr. is the new City of Lynwood Treasurer. He was appointed at a special City Council meeting on Thursday, January 26 by a unanimous vote.
"It was the duty of this Council to identify a person with extensive experience in finance to serve as City Treasurer for the remaining two years of the term. Luis is that person. We congratulate him on the appointment,” said Lynwood Mayor Oscar Flores. "I thank my Council colleagues for their work on this important decision that we expect will benefit our community."
The City Council created an Ad Hoc Committee earlier this month to interview and evaluate all the candidates who applied for the position. Their applications were considered before Thursday’s vote.
The post was vacated when the previous City Treasurer, Gabriela Camacho, was elected to the City Council in November 2022. Mr. Cuellar will serve the remaining two years of the current term.
