Lynwood Mayor Oscar Flores honored a teacher and an organization for seniors through his monthly Mayor’s Community Award.
"Lynwood’s great community spirit is demonstrated by those who work in our community running vital programs for our residents," said Mayor Flores. “This month’s honorees are truly reflective of the spirit of ‘Recreation’ and deserve this honor for the work they are doing to keep both our young students and our seniors active and healthy.”
Two honorees were recognized last week as co-honorees of the award for March. The honorees were presented with $250 personal contribution from Mayor Flores.
Mr. Diaz is a second grade teacher and the head track and field coach at Mark Twain Elementary School. He was nominated by LUSD track program officials for his dedicated work to the students at Mark Twain Elementary and for leading the school’s running club that promotes healthy lifestyles through running.
The Lynwood Senior Center Line Dancers Club
The Line Dancers Club has been part of the Senior Center’s programs for more than 15 years. The group promotes friendship and community unity through line dancing and is a regular performer at Lynwood community events.
Congratulations to the March honorees!
