It was a night for civic pride as your City Council honored the Lynwood High School men’s basketball team for their 2023 California State 5A Basketball Championship. Each council member took a moment to congratulate Coach Jason Crowe and his team for their impressive run to the championship, culminating in a 31-point win victory over Sierra High School last month in Sacramento.
Councilmember Jose Solache, who attended the championship game in Sacramento, spoke for the Council when he congratulated the team for “carrying the pride of Lynwood so impressively.”
Mayor Oscar Flores complimented the team on its maturity and how it conducted itself during the season and congratulated the coaches, parents and others who contributed to the team’s growth.
And Coach Crowe, in speaking with the Council, thanked the city and said team was “grateful for your support.”
He also shared that in speaking with the team in the last month he has encouraged them to continue to “represent Lynwood in great fashion.”
The Coach also thanked the community for it support and that athletics helps the young men “stay focused, stay out of trouble and learn to be leaders.”
Watching these impressive young men accept the thanks of the city leaders should tell all of us that they are not only very, very talented players, but great ambassadors for the city they represent.
Congratulations to our state champions!
