The Lynwood Urban Bike Trail has won the Active, Healthy and Safe Communities Award from the Southern California Association of Governments during its 2023 Sustainability Awards.
“Our new bike trail is a wonderful addition to our community,” said Mark Flores, Director of Recreation and Community Services. “We are proud that it is being recognized not only by our residents, but organizations such as the Southern California Association of Governments.”
Opened last year, the Lynwood Urban Bike Train is a project that converted undeveloped Caltrans excess land into a Class 1 Bicycle Trail in the City of Lynwood and created new multi-benefit public open space. It includes new curb and gutters, curb ramps; planting of native, drought-tolerant trees and other plants; lighting and permeable pavers; and bioswales at certain locations along the bike trail.
