You may have noticed a lot of construction activity throughout the city of Lynwood. It’s part of the City’s long-term plan to strengthen and improve our infrastructure – a priority for our City Council.
“The City Council knows that Lynwood residents deserve improved streets and sidewalks,” said Mayor Jorge Casanova.” This important work will continue in the coming months as we work across the city to improve our infrastructure”
Slurry Seal/Street Improvement
In late July, crews started a massive slurry seal program (slurry seal is a treatment that prolongs the life of asphalt) across the City. The program will be done in phases and this first phase should be completed by the end of August.
The streets targeted in this phase include:
– Josephine Street from State Street to Long Beach Boulevard
– Josephine Street from Bullis Road to Muriel Drive
– Ernestine Avenue from Agnes Street to Louise Street/E.O.P.
– Gertrude Drive from Agnes Street to Cortland Street
– Muriel from Walnut Avenue to Platt Avenue
– Lugo Avenue from Muriel Drive to Harris Avenue
– Louise Street from Gertrude Drive to Muriel Drive
Sidewalk Improvement
Sidewalk improvement projects across Lynwood were started in late July to ensure pedestrians can walk safely in their neighborhoods and throughout our City. The locations of this project were selected based on resident concerns and safety recommendations from City staff.
Wright Road sidewalks, curb ramps, and driveways are included in this project. Repairs will include removal and reconstruction of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and driveway improvements where needed; and replacement of trees impacted by the repairs.
Maintaining and improving infrastructure is an important part of keeping Lynwood a safe community for our residents. This year marks the first year of an annual citywide sidewalk program. You can see this is a top priority for our city that will result in improved infrastructure for Lynwood that will benefit our residents for many years to come.
